The Wisdom vs. Intelligence Test (Reflection)
The core difference between intelligence and wisdom is that intelligence leads to argument, while wisdom leads to settlement. Wisdom is about applying data that is useful to you and eradicating the rest.
Embracing Settlement: Think about a past decision, project, or disagreement (personal or professional) where you pursued your point vigorously (Intelligence/Argument). Using the wisdom principle that the “best minds with the most experience doing everything right cannot save a terrible idea from being terrible”, reflect on the following:
- Past Scenario: Briefly describe the scenario (e.g., “Argued with my team about a marketing campaign’s focus” or “Insisted on keeping a project that was failing”).
- The Wisdom Shift: If you could go back, what is one piece of data or evidence (or lack thereof) you would have “eradicat[ed]” or prioritized to lead to a quicker settlement or a constructive letting go (“it’s time to let go”)?
